ATS resume checker

Many employers run applications through an applicant tracking system (ATS) before a person reads them. CVitlo checks your CV the way such software tends to read it and tells you what to improve, so a good application is not filtered out for a fixable reason.

Check my CV

What the checker looks at

The ATS score rates the CV in the builder and breaks the result down by area, so you can see where points were lost rather than just a number.

It reads the same content you would send: your summary, skills, experience and education. Missing sections, thin bullets, vague job titles and keyword gaps are the usual causes of a low score.

Why layout matters as much as wording

Parsers read a document top to bottom. Tables, text boxes, icons and decorative columns can scramble the reading order. CVitlo offers single-column designs built to parse cleanly, such as the ATS Friendly, Precision ATS and Two Column ATS templates.

Use standard section names (Experience, Education, Skills) and put dates in a consistent format. The builder keeps this structure for you, and exports a text-based PDF.

Check against a real job

A generic score is a starting point. For a specific vacancy, paste the posting into Match Job: it lists the requirements your CV already covers, the gaps, and the keywords the posting uses that your CV does not.

How it works

  1. Open the builder and add your CV (or import a Word file).
  2. Run the ATS score from the toolbar menu.
  3. Read the breakdown and fix the weakest areas.
  4. Run Match Job against the vacancy you are applying to.

Questions

Is the ATS checker free?
You can try it on the Free plan, which includes a limited number of AI uses. Paid plans raise those limits.
Does a high score guarantee an interview?
No. Systems differ and a person still decides. A good score means your CV is structured and worded in a way software can read, which removes one common reason for rejection.
Which template should I use for ATS?
Pick a single-column design such as ATS Friendly. Decorative layouts look good to people but can be harder for parsers.
